The Best Halloween Yard Haunt I saw in 2015!

I saw this yesterday and then stopped today to take some quick pictures of it:

Oops, that must be the owner of the house and haunt. I didn't see him when I took the picture. Cool Yard Haunt, dude!

Some of them move!

If you want to see it for yourself it might still be up tomorrow! It's in Indianapolis on Capitol Ave. just south of Westfield  Blvd.

Probably about 5 blocks south.

Day 302 - The Pirate Song from the Garfield Halloween Special! - 10/31/2015

Happy Halloween!

Here's today's Thing-a-Day Thing!

I love Garfield! Especially for his holiday specials!

I hope all of your Halloween dreams are coming/came true!

Day 301 - Jack-o-Lanterns 2015! - 10/30/2015

Today's Thing-a-Days are these:

Princess Melawesome, Jobean, and I all got a pumpkin to carve!

Here's mine:

I went the traditional route. This is a pumpkin I grew in my backyard pumpkin patch!

Here's Princess Melawesome's:

It's name is Thimble! It is also a pumpkin from my patch!

And here's Jobeans!

It's a super-awesome wolf! It's a-howling! This pumpkin was from a trip to a commercial pumpkin patch. It's much bigger than the ones I grew.

Happy Halloween from!

Day 297 - 90's End of Movie Rap Summaries! - 10/26/2015

Here is the beginning of a list of Rap Songs from the end of 90s movies that are about the characters and, usually, summarize the movie.

1. T-U-R-T-L-E Power!

2. Go Ninja Go!

3. Kid Power!

4. Addam's Family Groove!

That's all I got right now? Any I missed?

Day 296 - French Stewart, Neighbor (a poem/would-be song) - 10/25/2015

Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is:

I betcha French Stewart would be a good neighbor
if he ever moved into the house next door.
He'd lend you his tools or a whole bag of sugar
and bring you treats back from his trip to the store.

Keep his TV and music at reasonable volumes
clean driveway and sidewalks and manicured lawn.
He'd keep his nose out of your private business
and look after your pets whenever you're gone.
He'd bring covered dishes to community potlucks
from his Grandma's recipes, masterfully prepared
handed down from each generation
Stewart family "secrets" he's willing to share.

At Christmas time, of course, he'd play Santa
because, after all, he's an actor by trade.
From "3rd Rock From the Sun" to "Home Alone 3"
he's been a sensation in each part he's played.

He's such a good actor he steals every show
why, he could be EVIL, and we'd never know.
A twinkle in his eye and winning smile could hide
that his heart's shriveled up and rotten inside.

He could have dark secret motives, I guess...

... but I STILL think, he'd be a good neighbor nonetheless.

Day 295 - Music Plans! - 10/24/2015

Today's Thing is a list of music things I wanna do.

Hey, I'm, like, 5 days behind. I'm trying to catch up.

Here we go:

1. I'd like to do a pop punk cover band that plays all Herman's Hermits songs.

The only name I've come up with so far was High Peter Noone.

2. I want to start a band that writes songs about Monty Python stuff. It's called Pythoneque (or Pythonesque Band).

I made a youtube page for it, but haven't put any music on it yet.

Some day...

3. I want to sing "My Funny Valentine" backed by a handbell choir.

4. I want to sing "Mambo Italiano" backed with a tuba.

5. I want to start a band that would sing songs like the Beatles and the Zombies and other stuff like that.

I even have one song written!

6. I want to write a couple albums of minstrel-style songs as sethifus. The album titles would be "Historically, Chronologically, and Utterly Inaccurate" and "Straight Out Tha Renaissance Fair".

I'd get a guitar that looks like this:

... and wear tights and stuff.

There are probably more music ideas I wanna do, but can't remember at the moment.

Somebody help me finish something...

Day 294 - Me, Myself and... (a poem/would-be song) - 10/23/2015

Here's a Thing:

The world's the worst it's ever been
Our cultures turning more obscene
It's enough to make your face turn green
Everyone only loves "Me, Myself, and Irene"!

Me, Myself, and Irene, Me, Myself, and Irene
When the DVD ends push play ageen
If films were a college, it'd be the Dean!
Me, Myself, and Irene

With Jim Carrey muggin' in every scene
Rene Zelwegger is now our Queen!
The Farrelly Brothers mastered the silver screen
with Me, Myself, and Irene!

Me, Myself, and Irene, Me, Myself, and Irene
When the DVD ends push play ageen
If films were a college, it'd be the Dean!
Me, Myself, and Irene

All the tiny tots eating strained green beans
love Me, Myself, and Irene!
All the hepcat tweens in their skinny jeans
love Me, Myself, and Irene!
And the senior team with their AARP zines
love Me, Myself, and Irene!

Me, Myself, and Irene, Me, Myself, and Irene
When the DVD ends push play ageen
If films were a college, it'd be the Dean!
Me, Myself, and Irene

May be a song some day. All the words at the ends of rhyme lines that don't rhyme with Irene would be said as if they do rhyme with Irene.

Day 293 - Halloween Santa! - 10/22/2015

Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is Halloween Santa!

Even Santa is excited about Halloween!

Halloween is my favorite holiday, but Christmas is my 2nd favorite.

I love them both and am excited for both.  But Halloween should come first.

Santa agrees with me.

Day 292 - General Mills Podcast: Monster Cereals! - 10/21/2015

Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is something I was a part of, but did not really make anything new for...

General Mills has a podcast, and I was interviewed for, and had a song featured in, the second episode!

Here's the song:

It's a song I wrote for a Strange Kids Club contest a couple years ago.

I talk a bit in podcast, too. It's all right at the beginning. Give it a listen!

Day 290 - I'm Not Your Type (an original song!) - 10/19/2015

I uke today for the Thing-a-Day Thing:

This is as political as I feel like getting most of the time.

From youtube:

A song about the difference between me and some other people!

It's easy to look like a loser
when the Lord has blessed me with this face
The people with unfortunate features
often find themselves in the last place.

It's easy to feel like a moron
when this was the skin I was born in.
It's an itchy, pale, and uncoordinated mess.
With blackish-blueish elbows, knees, and shins.

It's easy to be mistaken for an asshole
I'm required by my job to dress this way.
I may not agree with your politics
but I defend your right to say the stupid,
hurtful, racist, homophobic, idiotic shit
you're bound to say.

Day 289 - Jurassic Poem! - 10/18/2015

Michael Crichton wrote a book about
They made it into a movie
and then three more!
A cane-toting, white haired old man
has a brand new dino plan!

But Jeff Goldblum's here to foil it
when Newman gets et off a toilet!

Two little kids crouched on the floor!
Velociraptors knocking on the door!

The audience jumped, scared in the dark!
Weird Al parodied MacArthur Park!

Then two more films, but enough of that
'cuz next comes a big eyeful of Chris Pratt!

It's a killer flick, I bet
I have to admit I haven't seen it yet.

Day 288 - Books Taught Me (a poem) - 10/17/2015

Veruca Salt wants it now!
Willa Cather and the plow!
Atticus Finch
Saved the day in a pinch!
And Lenny wants to hear about the rabbits.

Day 287 - Dinosaur Tray - 10/16/2015

Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is a dinosaur I drew on a food tray.

I saw the holes and thought "those look like a dinosaur's eye and earhole>"

I was at Connor Prairie's Connor Scary Headless Horseman thing!

Day 286 - Hush Nerdy Baby - Geeky Lullaby - 10/15/2015

Today's Thing-a-Day is an adaptation of "Hush Little Baby"!

From youtube:

A sort of sequel to "Santa Buddy" (my first song parody video)!

A lullaby for Geek Moms and Dads!

Hush little baby don't say a word
Papa's gonna buy toys fit for a nerd.
If nerdy toys turn out to be your thing
Papa's gonna buy you Sauron's Ring
and if that ring messes with your head
Papa will buy the Mirror of Erised
and if that Mirror is worse than Tumblr
Papa's gonna buy you a Billy-Bumbler
and if that throcken won't be your pet
Papa's gonna buy you a Starscream Jet
and if that jet won't transform with you in it
Papa's gonna buy you a K-9 unit
and if K-9 leave you for a Time Lord
Papa's gonna buy you a Hoverboard.
If that Hoverboard makes you fall down
You'll still be the Hoopiest Frood in town.

Day 285 - clack, Clack, CLACK!!! - 10/14/2015

Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is a toy that was lots of fun... and then it would get on my nerves, but I couldn't stop!

Clack! CLACK! CLACK!!!!

Like the beating of a hideous heart!

Day 284 - Olive Oyl - 10/13/2015

Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is a song about Olive Oyl:

from youtube:

A song about Olive Oyl from Popeye's perspective, maybe.

I'm only handsome when she
wants something
she only likes me
with a catch
She's only happy when
I'm doing something for her
She only plays ball
when I fetch.

Our love is conditional.

She's always talking
seldom interested
in anything I have
to say
She's fickle when she's not
dismissing me
we only go dutch
when I pay.

Our love is conditional.

I don't much care for Olive Oyl. She's not very nice to Popeye, Bluto, Brutus, or any of the gentlemen that are interested in her. And Popeye's so nice to her.

Oh well, I still love Popeye.
